1) THINK THROUGH HISTORY: "Clarifying", According to Hobbes, why would people want to live unde the rule of an absolute monarch?  According to Thomas Hobbes all humans were selfish and wicked and without governments to keep order there would be a war against every other man. Hobbes said that it would be solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. People had to give up their rights to a leader for exchange they get law and order. This from Hobbes point of view would show order and obedience 2) 1. What important documents reflect the influence of enlightenment ideas?
The major ideas from the enlightenment had a great affect on our time. Locke's idea of natural rights - life, liberty, and property had helped to make the fundamental to U.S declaration of independence. Voltaire's freedom of thought and expression and Beccaria’s Abolishment of torture are in the bill of rights.
2.  In your opinion, which are the two most important enlightenment ideas? Support your answers with reasons.
In my opinion the two most important enlightenments are Voltaire’s and Montesquieu ideas, the freedom of thought and expression and separation of powers. Separation of powers had impacted the United States, France, and Latin America nations in their constitutions. It made balance of power in each government to make sure one government doesn’t become too powerful. Freedom of thought and expression was is in the bill of rights to give people rights.
3)  Indentify
Enlightenment:  the ideas of the Scientific Revolution paved the way for a new movement or the age of reason.
Social contract:  an agreement, by which people created government.
John Locke: a philosopher who made the idea that everybody had equal rights.
Natural rights: An idea that john Locke made saying that people are born free and equal.
Philosophes: the social critics of Enlightenment in France.
Voltaire:  a philosophe who created the idea of freedom of thought and expression and religion.
Montesquieu:  a French writer who devoted himself to political liberty.
Separation of powers: the division of power among different branches.
Jean Jacques Rousseau: another philosopher who was committed to individual freedom.
Mary Wollstonecraft:  a woman that believed and said that woman, like men need education to become virtuous and useful.
Synthesizing
For each of the statements below, identify who said it and explain what it means. Then say how each viewpoint reflects enlightenment ideas.
“Power should be a check to power.”
Baron de Montesquieu said “Power should be a check to power”. It means that one branch can check on another branch to make sure one branch is not getting a lot of power; it is a way to check on one another to keep things in balance. This reflects the enlightenment idea separation of powers that kept things in balance.
“Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains.”
Jeans Jacques Rousseau said “Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains.” This meant that men live free and equal.
“Let women share the rights and she will emulate the virtues of men.”
Mary Wollstonecraft said “let women share the rights and she will emulate the virtues of men.” This meant that if woman are given same rights as men, she would do the same thing as men.

this article about the sanctions on Iran from the United Nations could help watch over Iran in a way to stop some kinds of treats.

Sanctions against Iran are maybe working said by secretary of defense Robert Gates. Robert gates said that the "untied nations sanctions that were approved in June has help make a crucial legal platform for individual nations to enact additional measures", this should help make it easier to check on small individual nations around the world to take more additional measures of responsibility . but the sanctions or pressed to the Tehran watch its nuclear program,  for the united sates they fear that this might be used to make a bomb, but Iran said its peaceful. Robert gates said he thinks the discussion on Iran help the fact that the sanctions are making it better then he thought.

the reason why i chose this article was because i wanted to find out what was going on in Iran and the title like caught my eye because it was about Iran and i wanted to know what was going on then after reading the headline it got me more interested  then most of the other ones.

this article is almost related to the unit I'm learning about right now because it is showing to focus groups basically fighting against each other like the church and the scientific Revolution, the scientist were against church like the sanctions are on against Iran.

1)the cannon law is a law from the catholic church that made people that were Christians to do things like marriage and religious practices.

2) if a person didn't follow the canon law they would be either or both excommunication and interdict for disobeying that law. if a king was to disobey the law he would face excommunication which meant that he would not have power with the church and will not be able to have salvation and all of the people that worked for the king will be free from they're services. if a king still disobeyed the law he would be faced with interdict, if interdict were to happened any one with the king would be doomed to hell.
